Our students Ariana Kılıç, Eren Akın, and Helin Nil Erbey carried out an important project investigating the causes of mucilage formation in the Sea of Marmara. With the laboratory support of Akademi Çevre, their study examined the impact of industrial wastewater on mucilage formation using COD (Chemical Oxygen Demand) methods.

Their project was presented at the ICWMRE 2025: 19th International Conference on Waste Management, Recycling and the Environment, held online from Paris on August 28–29, 2025. Representing our team, Ariana Kılıç was awarded the Best Presentation Award.
